British Airways Flight Change Policy

For British Airways' ticket economy, there are no changes allowed, but you can request a refund.

If you book your ticket directly with British Airways online or through the contact center, you can change your ticket if you've booked it on a flexible fare. As long as you make the changes before your original flight departs, there's no fee to make these changes. You'll also be able to obtain a refund of any unused portion of your ticket via our website too. However, if you booked it through a travel agent or an online travel agency (OTA), including BA Holidays and Opodo, then a refund is only possible where permitted within their respective cancellation policies. If you booked through an airline ticket agent, please contact them directly for information about how to request a refund.

If your booking was made by someone else

If you were given permission by the person who booked the flights and they hold the payment details, they will need to take certain actions on your behalf (e.g., the person who originally purchased the flights will need to amend them). In order for this person to do this on their own account, it's important that they ask us not to link/share personal data between both accounts.

You must provide your refund request at least 2 hours before the scheduled departure of the flight.

·         Please note that if you are within 2 hours of your flight’s departure, you must contact the airport directly.

Refunds can only be requested if the ticket was issued by British Airways and it is booked directly from British Airways.

As a rule, non-refundable tickets will not be refunded by British Airways. However, there are some exceptions to this rule:

For a refund to be processed on an eligible ticket:

·         You must request it at least 24 hours before your scheduled departure time; requests made less than 24 hours before departure will not qualify for refunds.

·         The amount of the fare will be credited back onto whichever credit card or debit card was used to pay for it; if cash was used instead then there may still be an option available but it depends on where and how that purchase took place originally (British Airways recommends checking with the agency where you purchased).
